The Truth About Rainbows: From Pots Of Gold To Pontiffs & How 2 Young Men Went From Kings 2 Lovers & All Those Thoughts Regarding SAFE SEX In Between?

In honour of Saint Patrick's Day, I have this to say, "suck on this lollipop!" towards the Bishop of Rome and Patriarch of all the West, in regards to his recent statements (CNN/NPN) on HIV/AIDS prevention while preparing to pontificate across Africa: "You can't resolve it with the distribution of condoms,....On the contrary, it increases the problem." This can no longer be an issue of birth control or the abstinence only education, let alone an issue from a civil matter of pre/extra-marital sex. This is an issue of medical safety and prevention of a deadly disease that ravages innocents and children. This archaic principled stand no longer applies and therefore either needs to be revised in its implications toward the normal believer and better explained to the non believer.

If condoms cant prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS, then when someone has the audacity to cover the Chair of Saint Peter and the Throne at St. John Lateran Basilica in latex, or melted plastic, the Pope would still be able to speak "from the Chair", or Ex Cathedra, on faith and morals, and have it be infallible, even though his ass would be prevented from making the necessary contact pointe with the relics inside in order for his mouth to proclaim such ejaculations and declarations. If it is not the case then:
a. the teaching that condoms prevent the marriage covenant from being ritually entered into and perpetually consummated need to be revised
b. the Church needs to be responsible to the believers and allow them to make a fully formed choice of conscious decision
c. someone should ball gag the Pope, unless he is speaking within his role as the head of the College of all the Bishops, and not just the Roman ones either.

I am not going to say the overall teaching/advocacy is wrong, it is just incomplete, as it presumes no one has premarital sex, and everyone lives by the same standard of morals and ethics, and fails to account for the reality of human nature when offering instruction based on those teachings. It is time for the ideal to get serious about reality and provide a reputable answer not just a set of lofty dreams. The Roman Catholic Church's teaching against any sex outside of the marriage covenant as a violation or in error is the principle motivation behind all other doctrine and dogma. This is also why the Roman Catholic Church teaches against masturbation, anal sex, as deficient, and the obvious, homosexuality, as objectively disordered to the "ideal" of the marriage covenant. Even regardless of the fact that there is a long history even within Scripture of homosexuality not being demonized by God, just the politicians and religious leaders who later translated Scripture twenty times over to their own desires.

EDITORIAL ADVISORY: Before you read any further, please understand that, anal sex, while enjoyable when done correctly (Gay Tel Aviv), is still technically at its psychological base an act primarily of domination; and medically speaking, when done without extra care and condoms, medically dangerous to the human body. THE STORIES OF DAVID AND JONATHAN

We know without a doubt, by King Saul's own words, that King David and Prince Jonathan were bound lovers in some capacity and formula. The sexual acts recorded between them is questionable, all we know from Scripture is that they were naked, embraced, crying, and kissed at three separate times, which is descriptive of mutual masturbation or frottage in one account of record alone.

Scripture never says they had anal intercourse, if they did or did not, the intimacy that is recorded in Scripture, would have looked something closer to this video segment above with Jason Dottley and Ted Detwiler in Sordid Lives The Series (F6 Previous Posts), except that it was out in the open in a field, or the equivalent of a public park today. But while the actual depth or detail of expression can be held in question, the intimacies and formation of the covenant between them can not and the fulfillment of said covenant after Jonathan's death in battle is undeniable in Scripture.

RITUAL PURITY AND THE IMPLICATIONS REGARDING ANAL SEX

The issue to keep in mind is the actual formation of the covenant and what is required: a mutual and equal tearing of flesh, shedding of blood, and exchanging of privileges and rights. This technically could happen during direct phallic to phallic touching or mutual masturbation. That does exist when happening from the pointe of mutual masturbation specifically during close touch phalli to phalli frottage or dry humping, unless you're really flexible or have studied ballet and gymnastics.
3. For lack of a better phrase, the anus is not a source of life but the end of life, and therefore anal sex represents a "filthy covenant bond" not the beginning of a new bond or the continual celebration of that bond. It is similar to the idea within the Jewish Dietary Laws of not just of the prohibition in consuming bottom feeders or scavengers but in relationship to certain types of meat in clean animals eg: Kosher versus Non Kosher Beef, which is not allowed -Sirloin, Rump Roast, and Flank Steaks- to be consumed because they come after the digestive system and are therefore littered with toxins and diseases. 4. The covenant must form between each party and their seed and their children. These are two separate clarifications they are and are not pseudonymous with each other in the text as a whole.

Even if I don't agree with their platform completely, the men over @ G0Y, detail this part in more simple statements so I will use their words, albeit modified slightly from the original with no threat intended:

So what if two men of legal age fell in love & want to merge their lives?

This is precisely what David & Jonathan illustrated with their love & subsequent covenants which is how, (from a legal standpoint,) the kingdom of Saul became David's; why David was able to probate it to Jonathan's son Meribbaal/Mephibosheth; and was the legal basis for David's adoption of Meribbaal/Mephibosheth & his family into David's

The reason I bring this all up is because of the molten lava flow that has erupted like spurts of man jiz on the Gay blogosphere over the new show KINGS @ NBC on Sunday nights which is an alternative universe retelling of the Story of David from the Christian BIBLE. Surprisingly the Conservative Blogs are not upset about the inclusion of the interpretation that Jonathan was gay, or the Gays In The Military theme either, or they haven't figured out yet that it is a retelling of the story of King David.

Within the premiere 2 hour episode we specifically see the son confront his Father and King Silas affirming the sons sexuality as God given but in order for him to pass the throne to his son "Jack", pictured in the background below, played by Sebastian Stan (Covenant 2006), his son must "control it, press it to the ground, numb it with ice, but you cannot be what God made you, not if you mean to take my place" (54:30-56:30 mark). But no worries, because hell hath no furry like a Queen with a heel up her ass and a screwdriver in her hand. Gay bloggers went on the offensive though, because as Brent Hartinger @ After Elton put it, as a clear offense to the original story and the GLBT Community:

"Despite Kings’ claims that it is a “retelling” of David’s story, a gay love story is clearly not the direction the show is going. In other words, Michael Green, the creator of Kings, has chosen to keep the Bible’s likely-gay aspect of the character of Jonathan, but then turned him into a scheming villain, while at the same time, completely eliminating any “gay” element to the story’s primary hero, David."

His review of the Jonathan character Jack can be synopsis with this text:

"....But in Kings, Jack is mostly a villain and a pretty stereotypically gay one at that: pretty and perfectly groomed, self-centered and vain, bitter and entitled, scheming, yet ultimately cowardly....He’s a rich, complicated character, but he’s still a bad guy,...competing for the affections of (his Father) the current King....there are several hints that Jack might be attracted to David, he seems to be motivated not by love, but by jealousy because David loves his sister, the princess, and not him."

Michael Green the show's Creator had this to say in response to Mr. Hartinger's essay during an interview with Michael Jensen, After Elton's Editor:

“I think what you might be concerned about, or what your readership might be concerned about is that we’re playing into the cliché that the straight guy is great and the gay guy is evil, I don’t think we fall into that cliché at all. I think if you give us your time and attention, you’ll be very surprised at what both of those characters are capable of in the positive and in the negative sense. No one in our show is clearly good. No one in our show is clearly evil. They have far, far different journeys to go on."

My goals are to take my characters and put them in the most interesting situation and then see how they behave, so I can’t give Jack any special protection because he’s gay or straight, I think that would be the more backwards way of looking at it....I am much more interested in Jack as a character who, if he had been brought up in a kinder family, might have been a kinder person. He might have been a happier person. But he was born into a family where the presumption is that power is an inherent good that you must want more of, and that colors his personality far more than his preferences.

This is the pointe where the Queens come out to play and the rest of us sit back and go read the whole original story over again, starting at the end of the 17th chapter of 1st Samuel all the way through to the end of the 9th chapter of 2nd Samuel. LEARN SOME HISTORY @ THESE GAY LOVERS AND BLOOD BROTHERS

While still not denying the fact that David and Jonathan were bound lovers, the fact of the matter is that Jonathan fell in love with David, who is played by Chris Egan in the show, first. David also later married into the family with not one, but two of his sisters, so they were bound brothers by covenants of love to each other and in-laws by marriage. We know directly from sacred text, from King Saul's own mouth, that they were each others companions (1st Samuel 20:30-31). We also know from history that it is common in Mediterranean cultures for men who marry into a family to be considered brothers and not brothers in law of existing siblings. It is also normal practice in Mediterranean cultures for all the brothers to have a sexually intimate bond with each other, without necessarily being an engagement of anal intercourse.

If anything, what the show KINGS will do, is tell the story in, albeit more agonizing for certain Queer and Conservative commentators, an accurate time line of events and the scope of modern reality for many GLBT Youth and Young Adults, who struggle with coming out, only to find that everyone you were hiding it from already knew. Within the first episode you witness a Father agonize over his son and at the same pointe sacrifice in battle his other son who is gay and trying to hide such from himself, the world, and especially because of fear of and shame from his own Father.

FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO!

The BIBLE text as we know it lasted through ten major rewritings throughout the six thousand year history of the recorded history of humanity. Seven things to remember about Scripture are:

1. it is neither scientific nor historically accurate;
2. it was written by the victors of wars, by the leaders of people;
3. it is not linear in its time line or production;
4. it is a theological document which assumes GODs existence not trying to prove such;
5. it was written in the time of Kings Saul, David and Solomon etc. 1250-950 BCE;
6. it begins with segments in Exodus, at the Praise and Thanksgiving for Deliverance;
7. it underwent a major rewrite again while the Hebrews were in captivity in Babylon;

Even with all of that, this unambiguous text regarding the bond of covenant love between a Crown Prince and his future King remains, along with the clarification by all the Major Prophets, and LORD Joshua-Emmanuel of Nazareth himself, that homosexuality didn't destroy Sodom and Gomorrah.

THE PROMISE OF THE RAINBOW

That is where the rainbow as a sign of the promise comes to intersect the lives of Gays and Lesbians and those of varied Faiths. May we one day both embrace not just our respective ends of the rainbow but recognize each other as equals worthy of love and being loved by others within its rays.

The story of David and Jonathan is not just an issue just of gay lovers or blood brothers, by a long shot, but of two young men who formed a bond so intense and passionate with each other, that the average mind cant contain it and the elite theologian reminisces to try to explain it away. The fact that we're still debating the full ramifications of their undeniable bonds of love, three thousand years later, that is a love that is eternal.

White Trash Weekend: It's A Bitch! Sorting Out The Sordid Lives Of The Religious Self Righteous, Whom Keep Calling Us Sinners!

The American Family Association wasn't happy that everyone went out and bought Campbell's Soup Company products, over the holidays to thumb their nose at the Religious Right Political Machine; so they decided to go after Pepsi Cola Company's policies and practices, $500,000 donations a piece to PFLAG and the HRC, and regarding the company's new slogan "SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE", which matches their product redesign in recent months.

Pepsi Company also has workshops for its employees in diversity training which includes educating about sexual orientation and gender identity issues (Queers United). After this boycott was announced, the Pepsi Company decided to tell the AFA to bugger off and released in the United Kingdom, a truth or dare advert. In the advert a group of three friends are at a bar and the two challenged the one to go up and ask a person he was interested in for a number or a nookie. The friends were left slack jawed when he went right passed the woman they thought he was focusing on and into the arms of another tall dark and handsome man.

What a way to come out of the closet!

The SORDID LIVES theme song originally by Olivia Newton John starts out with very simple questions, "Who is to say whose a saint and whose a sinner?" Yet the answer that the original motion picture and current (12 episodes so far) series on LOGO, (the first season is an interweave prequel to the movie), validates, in part that everyone is. We all are both saints and sinners. Perfection, none of us could achieve. It is balance that is required.

When we realize that, we start to treat each other less precociously, and truly do become free and liberated. When one finds liberty to be who they are, is when we might find peace on this Earth or at least be able to live with one another without all the hate, drama, self doubt, and condemnation. When we all find that simple truth of unconditional love of ourselves, as made in Divine image, we will all be free to love, think, and worship as we choose.

But then the American Family Association and organizations like them wouldn't have anything to bitch about and misinform the public, or dig for something to harrass (dare I even suggest, slander/libel), another person and his husband and his children over. The head of the Florida Family Association decided to put out a press release earlier this month attacking through many misrepresentations the nature of the show SORDID LIVES, and then tried to get an email campaign going against the advertisers of the show. Then took he took it twenty steps to far and attacked the family of Jason Dottley and Del Shores, the Producer of the movie and new show series.

As an issue of fairness, I am putting excerpts of David Caton's Releases, with Jason's response betweeen.

New companies advertise on LOGO show portraying "Baptist Texas family" as genderly dysfunctional
TVGuide.com describes “Sordid Lives” as a “Comedy about dysfunction in a Republican Baptist Texas family, much of it gender-bending.” The program depicts various family members as transgender, lesbian, bi-sexual and gay. “Sordid Lives” was written by Del Shores who won the 2001 GLAAD Media Awards Outstanding LA Theatre Production for the play "Southern Baptist Sissies."
Del Shores left his wife and two daughters and later married his partner Jason Dottley. This information is reported at Wikipedia.
Talk about hate and real dysfunction. The all gay LOGO channel, owned by ultra-liberal left MTV, paid a man who left a real family for other men to write a show attacking Christians. They are directly labeling Baptists and Christians as “Sordid.”
Additionally, any child with a remote can watch the explicitly homosexual programs that air on LOGO.

Bowflex is a leading advertiser on explicit show that degrades Christians. “Sordid Lives” star launches campaign against FFA, Bowflex continues to be a leading advertiser.
“Sordid Lives’” star Jason Dottley has launched a campaign against Florida Family Association (FFA) in response to FFA’s communications with companies who advertise on his television show.
Del Shores left his wife and two daughters for the homosexual lifestyle and later married his partner Jason Dottley.
Florida Family Association has sent emails to the CEO’s and VP’s of Marketing of the companies who advertise on Sordid Lives since it first aired in October of 2008. Additionally, FFA has launched several email campaigns to encourage supporters to send emails to companies who advertise on Sordid Lives. FFA’s daily communications with advertisers and supporters’ emails to advertisers have influenced approximately 25 of 44 companies to stop advertising on Sordid Lives.
FFA typically reports the names of all advertisers who have pulled off of the shows monitored. However, these advertiser names will not be released at this time because the cast of Sordid Lives has launched a campaign against FFA and FFA’s efforts.
Sordid Lives star Jason Dottley posted a page on Utube.com calling on fans to send emails and make phone calls to FFA and the show’s advertisers. Del Shores (alleged) mother contacted FFA. Numerous fans called and sent emails. Del Shores (alleged) ex-wife called David Caton, Florida Family Association Executive Director on his cell phone on several occasions.
Del Shores’ (alleged) ex-wife’s numerous phone calls and this frenzy of opposition against FFA’s campaign to influence advertisers to pull off of Sordid Lives indicate that LOGO may be threatening to drop this show. If this is the case it is good news that LOGO Channel’s most degrading and hateful show toward the Christian faith could soon be gone.

With all the false trollop accusations coming from Florida Family in the name of "Christian" righteousness and "protecting the family", I found it interesting to note that: 1. Mr. Caton did not include the Wiki link in his second Release but didn't apologize for the blatant misinformation in either Release; and aside from the fact that U is not an acceptable shorthand for You Tube, 2. nowhere in any literature could I find a caveat from Mr. Caton that, made the simple suggestion for his constituents, to be parents, and block their children from watching any questionable programs on LOGO from their televisions. It is called a VCHIP. Now while Florida Family runs for cover and tries to claim to have been victorious at the same time, Kelley Alexander and Del Shores, released joint statements concerning the false attacks by David Caton of Sordid Lives The Series and harassment against their family, especially their daughters, and Jason :

DEL SHORES STATEMENT: I did not leave Kelley for Jason. I met Jason six years after Kelley and I divorced. There is no hate in our very REAL family which functions quite well, thank you very much. I did not abandon my daughters. Kelley and I are good friends and like many divorced couples we share custody and co-parent together. And my children are amazing young women! Finally, my show does not label Baptists and Christians as "Sordid". I have many Christian friends and fans -- straight and gay -- who practice what Christ preached -- love. But yes, I will continue to write about and expose those like Mr. Canton who continue to spew hatred in the name of the Lord.

KELLEY ALEXANDER: I cannot believe that I feel I have to to issue a statement regarding a hate-filled campaign by a man I do not know who is attacking my family. First of all, I have a REAL family that includes my ex-husband, Del Shores and his lovely husband, Jason Dottley. While my divorce should remain private, I have to defend Del. I encouraged him to embrace his homosexuality, live his life openly and honestly and to write about it. He has been the most supportive ex-husband, father and friend I could ever imagine. He never left or abandoned his wife or children. He has supported us financially and emotionally one hundred percent. But most importantly, he is the most wonderful father I could have ever asked for my children. They love him unconditionally and cannot understand the hate that is sometimes aimed at him. They are the most amazing children I could ever hope for, and Del is a total and complete partner in raising them.

I am sad that in the year 2009, that they are exposed to the hate that is aimed at their father, their step-father and the gay community. My heart is broken for each and every thought that goes against what we have created as an amazing family unit. Del and Jason are as much my family as anyone born into it. I adore both of them. Yeah I Am Gay But It Is Just As Important That I Am! & GLAAD Announces Nominees in 43 Categories for 20th Annual Awards Shows!

The Rainbow Malitia on You Tube has struck again with another collaboration video celebrating who Queers are and are not but more importantly addressing the fact that we are just human. Take a look for yourself:



GLAAD, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, has announced its nominees for their 20th Annual Media Awards, which is presented by IBM with Absolut Vodka and Prudential Insurance & Investment Co. along with 10 underwriters and 28 patronages by different corporations, in three tour locations: New York on the 28th of March; Los Angeles on the 18th of April; and San Francisco on the 9th of May. Some of these Awards in 43 different categories (26 English; 17 Spanish) will be handed out at each of the three events, others will be given an honorable salute in the program for the night.

My only query is that, If GLAAD is already hosting three events and two are on either coast, why can't the third or a fourth one be held in the middle of America? This is where the defamation and discrimination that your organization is petitioning against is going on more rampantly and silently.

It seems minor hypocritical, in my opinion, that you would not want to reach out to us "common queer folk" and let us "take in a bit of celebrity and style" or better yet come see the lives of the people your Award Nominees portray, and your organization defends. Plus it would be a perfect opportunity for us to show you big city types a bit of country queer hospitality. I'm just asserting that it is something GLAAD should think about doing so in the future. Who knows by spreading it truly across the Country, you might actually be able to present all 43 categories in the future, because our venues don't cost as much to rent by the hour and you don't have to valet!

I have informed the national board of directors of my decision to step down as president later this year and look forward to a successful and smooth transition of leadership for GLAAD. It's been an honor and privilege to work professionally in the movement for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equality for the last three and a half years. I am probably the only one whom smells a rat in the chicken coop. First GLAAD does a "controlled power grab" of Commercial Closet, which forced the cancellation of their last Awards Show, and now we are asked to not think or see this as a duck and cover move or a power grab? That it isn't just bad form just piss poor timing! Is there a worse way to say, "have confidence in this organization" then by having your President resign the day after a major events announcement? Steve Weinstein, Editor-in-Chief of The Edge of New England has more about this story here:

Neil Giuliano, the president of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), is resigning "to pursue personal interests while completing his forthcoming book about his public and political life," according to a release from the advocacy organization. Giuliano, president since September 2005, will continue until a date to be announced later this year. Prior to GLAAD, he served for ten years as the mayor of Tempe, Ariz., after 25 years at Arizona State University.

"It’s been an honor and privilege to work professionally in the movement for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality," Giuliano said in a statement. "The views of the American people on LGBT issues are clearly moving in the right direction, toward supporting full equality, and it has been a great experience to serve on the front lines." Under Giuliano’s leadership, GLAAD’s budget has grown from $7.5M to $11M. GLAAD’s mission is a national voice against defamation of gay people and media outreach programs. GLAAD also acquired Queer Lounge at the Sundance Film Festival in 2007 and will launch an advertising media program later in 2009 with the assets of the former Commercial Closet Association, which merged with GLAAD.

"He will leave GLAAD a better and more effective organization than when he arrived and we appreciate his years of dedication and service," said Yvette Burton, co-chair of GLAAD’s Board of Directors. The board is searching for a replacement.

One side note, Jay Brannan is a nominee in the Out Standing Music Artist category for Goddamned!, yeah!

National DOMA Protest: While the Queers march on Washington, President Bush is in Virginia naming an Aircraft Carrier after his father?

While Gays and Lesbians marched on Washington and around the country in organized protest and action against the Defense of Marriage Act, President Bush was in Norfolk, Virginia giving his Dad an, "I'm going to be getting kicked out of the Executive Mansion soon" gift.

President Bush had the US Navy name the CVN 77 in honour of his Father President George H. W. Bush in a ceremony today. The other record of note is that this is the first time a namesake of a Warship was present during the Commissioning and Launch. The ship will begin its service to our Country sometime in 2010. The U.S. Naval Carrier Vessel 77, a Nimitz class Aircraft Carrier is has a dual Nuclear reactor that wont need to be refueled for 20 years and will serve this Country for the next 50 years. The GHWB can house up to 6,000 United States Service Members and 80 combat aircraft. Its breadth is 1092 ft long (comparable with the length of The Empire State Building), a 4.5 acre landing field, and a tower that exceeds 20 stories above the water line, it weighs in with over 47 thousand tons of steel and 1 million pounds of aluminum. The GHWB will be the tenth and final Nimitz class Carrier produced by the United States.

Talk about an impressive monument to a failed legacy. "See Dad, I even named a ship after us." In all honesty, this honour, for President Bush I, is something he truly does deserve. In 1943, he became the youngest naval aviator at that pointe our Country's history and he followed that dedicated sacrifice of 58 missions, by going to college and then serving in Congress and as the CIA Director back in the 1970s, eventually becoming Commander In Chief as our 41st President. It is just the timing and the fact that they didn't wait until he passed away, that makes it suspicious and flawed historically.



Wait! There were marches? There were protest? Where?

Well there was suppose to be a nationwide protest against the Defense of Marriage Act, but the latest dusting of the white stuff combined with a general lack of interest and organization locally, meant that once again Queers in northeast Indiana didn't participate unless they went to a larger City, or did something in smaller groups. Yet another failure to organize the local Queer Community has happened in the Summit City.

Later on this month there are two other days of action. On the 27th they are holding an Equality On Campus Rally and of course Dont Ask Dont Tell turns 16 years old two days later. Let's hope and pray that President Obama and the 11th Congress bend both DADT and DOMA across the mast of U.S.S. GHWB, CVN 77 and spank them both like the disgraced stepchildren to American law and Civil Society that they are!

4 My Birthday: ST:HF Boldly going where few gay fan bois went before! Battlestar Galactica: Lt Felix Gaeta Comes Out; Intro: Western Nightmares Comics

EDITOR: Please accept my apologies for this post running way behind for several reasons, including a dedication to accuracy, followed up by severe weather locally. This was suppose to be a blended Saturday and Monday post on Sunday, as my present to all of you on my 33rd birthday. But before I begin to unwrap this present for you, I would ask that we all take a moment and remember the First Lady of Star Trek, Majel Leigh Hudec (Barrett) Roddenberry, whom passed onto Risa to be with Gene and all the other greats of Star Trek lore and history earlier this month.

BOLDLY GOING WHERE FEW GAY FAN BOIS
COULD EVEN DREAM OF GOING BEFORE

Star Trek: Hidden Frontiers was an offshoot of the fan series Voyages of the USS Angeles (ANG), produced by the Star Trek Fan Club in Southern California. Hidden Frontier inherited the setting, Deep Space 12, and several of the characters from the Angeles series, but quickly went on to establish its own unique identity. The series (ran seven seasons from 2000 to 2007, comprising 50 episodes), was set in the Brier Patch, the wild region of space introduced in the motion picture film, Star Trek: Insurrection.

Command presence from the Flag Starship Excelsior, NCC-77246, but the entire series focused around its home base, Deep Space 12 (sector 441), which orbits the Ba'Ku Home World, as they fend off attacks from a powerful new alien race, the Grey, and mediated disputes between such races as the Tholians, Cardassians, Bajorans, the Son'a and the Breen. Even though it is a new and Hidden Frontier with the metreon gas cloud it is close enough to receive assistance from the Bajoran Home World and DS9 and yet at the same point necessary still to have a specified Federation presence in this particularly hostile area.

The show (while being true to Cannon, including characters like Cmndr. Elizabeth Shelby and Lt. Wesley Crusher (yeah!), when possible) strives to unfold the civil society and political and social sciences side of the Star Trek franchise to new heights. It goes further in detail and depth with the principles of the Federation and how they can be applied to everyday life now, which was always part of the Star Trek platform, as yet it had been more discreet or reserved.

Hidden Frontier has garnered media attention and honors for its boundary-breaking portrayal of gay characters, the series’ gay story arc involves a three way multi-dynamic give and take between Bajoran Ro Nevin's search for his sexual identity, his near-romance with Corey Aster, and Aster's eventual relationship with Jorian Zen Dao, a joined Trill.

Below you will see two videos from season five that I found last week, while doing a random search to get my Star Trek fix. I received the shock of a life time for my birthday. I want to share these beautiful stories of gay love and romance dynamics and dealing with relationship development and anxiety from a very honest standpointe into these intense explosion of love for your best friends and brothers in arms. I hope that you enjoy them as much as I did.


Star Trek: Hidden Frontier 5.03 "Darkest Night"

The first video is about four to six months into their new found relationship and Ro Nevin, trying to be polite to Zen, has Aster invite his now boyfriend along for a camping trip to study some ancient ruins with his best friend and Academy chum Barrett. Of course an atypical protective response ensues and then Aster goes and Zen stays on board, until a swift kick from a good friend, allows the heart to win out in every man involved.

In this second video, a year has past and as they are celebrating their anniversary, Cassius Dao, Zen's mentor shows up and informs him that he is dying and that he has been expelled and is regarded as a lost symbiont. Does Zen accept his mentors request? Does he accept the expulsion sentence that comes with such an act? Does he loose himself and his love for Aster by joining with a straight symbiont who has lived for 17 life times?

It should be noted that Adam Browne (Jorian Zen Dao) and JT Tepnapa (Corey Aster) are actually Married to each other and make their home in Los Angeles. The fact that the Producers and Cast have opened this story line and allowed two gay actors, let alone a preexisting couple, and three gay characters at a minimum, to actually play out multi dynamic relationship story line with all of its natural setbacks and successes is even more phenomenal.

As best as I can tell so far, in the current show time/story line, after being saved from death by Nevin's ex Klingon boyfriend and drifting into a comma for six months, Corey (c) was rescued from a Romulan Medical Prison by the USS Helena, and Jorian (r) is on board as the 2nd in Command. Their friendship is not as strained as much as one would think due to the symbiont influence and the former love interest factor.

However Corey's husband Nevin (l) who is currently stuck in the Andromeda Galaxy (follow info for ST: Odyssey below) and is presumed dead by Starfleet, after the same battle. Corey who is psionic inclined naturally, would shares an obvious connection to husband Nevin, and is receiving dreams, which assure him he is still alive and scars (which force him to restricted duty) that turn out to be a star chart of particular anomalies in the Andromeda Galaxy. The Helena as it fights to find Nevin and the crew of the Odyssey had to go rouge and is crossing the universe to bring their people back.

In the clips used above from season five, the character, of then Ensign, (now Lt. Cmndr.) Bajoran Ro Nevin, was played by Aurthur Bosserman. The roll was then followed by Bobby Rice (see the bottom of this post for a major update), and currently by Brandon McConnell. All three Browne, Tepnapa, and McConnell are currently involved with the sister spin off series: The Odyssey & The Helena Chronicles. Other cast members are active in the two previous mention sister shows or being attached to another sibling of the series, Star Trek: Federation One.

Even with being done on green screen which sometimes glows through and distorts the images in the earlier episodes this is the best ever "fan fic" I have seen yet, and the common bonds between the cast and crew is intensely obvious. This series and its spin offs need to be picked up by a network, preferably Sci Fi, please!

Battlestar Galactica character comes out

It’s difficult looking at the future and not seeing yourself in it. Some three decades ago, after watching "Logan’s Run" with its all-white cast, Richard Pryor said black people weren’t in science fiction because, “White folk ain’t planning on us to be here.”

The same could be said for gays.

The original "Battlestar Galactica" was widely regarded as cheesy, so when a miniseries came out in 2003 revamping the concept, expectations were low. But the Sci-Fi channel quickly managed not only a hit science fiction show, but one of the most popular dramas of any kind.

Former "Star Trek" writer and producer Ron Moore reinvented the concept as an analogy for terrorism and our growing reliance on technology. The Cylons - machines man created that rose up to destroy them, but called a truce after a long war, only to return with a doomsday attack and 12 Cylon models who look human - are hunting the remains of humanity through the Galaxy as they search for Earth, the last colony of man.

The show remake took some heat for white-washing the cast -- roles played by black men in the original were changed to a balding alcoholic white guy and a Korean-Canadian woman - but ultimately pushed far more race boundaries than all of the "Law and Order" and "CSI" franchises combined.

"Battlestar" has even seen a lesbian couple, albeit briefly and it ended badly, but never approached the “Pink Line” of an openly gay reoccurring character until just before the end of its four-season run. The final season returns to the sci-fi channel in January and introduces online "webisodes" [http://www.scifi.com/battlestar/webisodes] each Friday until the premiere.

On the Dec. 12 webisode, regular character Lt. Felix Gaeta (Alessandro Juliani) kissed another guy, an officer who until now stood in the background and occasionally told people the Cylons were calling. On a side note, Gaeta is also the first handi-abled gay man on television, because last season some jackass shot him in the leg and refused to get him medical attention in time to save it.

Gaeta is a regular, but not a main character, so it remains to be seen how much of an impact his sexual orientation will have on the overall plotline. At Dragon*Con in Atlanta this year, leading actor Edward James Almos told everyone he ran across that “Lots of us die” in the final season, so who even knows how much longer Gaeta and his lover will live.

A lot of the credit for Gaeta’s sexuality goes to actor Alessandro Juliani, who not only deftly handles the techno-babble the writers consistently give him, but endows Gaeta with a sense of subtlety and ambiguity. Because of his choices, at least one of the writers has said it felt natural to give Gaeta more dimension with a same-sex relationship.

The reaction online to Gaeta’s outing has been pretty muted. Gaeta has been largely written as asexual (read: gay) for some time now, so it's really no surprise to hardcore fans. At Dragon*Con a couple of years ago, someone asked Aaron Douglas, who plays Chief Galen Tryol, why there weren't any gay characters on the show, and his response was along the line of, “Not only is there a gay character; I have the gag reel to prove it.”(clip above)

So after spending a lifetime looking at the stars and wondering where the hell the gay boys are, now we know. They’re quietly serving on "Battlestar Galactica." So the only remaining question may be, where are the transgender folks?

Forget what you think you know about Vampires and Werewolves and prepare to enter a new world of darkness and shadows. For here nothing is what it seems to be and living in the light can be a dangerous place. But as dark as this place can get, love does exist. In this world love tends to take on unfamiliar forms.

In 2006 Tony Lawrence, aka Skylar, and Iceman Blue came together to produce a western, action/adventure, romance, dark comedy, gay comic series that is intended to explore the struggle of finding love where you least expect it. Western Nightmares is graphically violent and sexual format, but it is erotic not explicit, when it comes to frontal nudity and same sex intimacies. In its first issue we are slowly introduced to the main characters in a dual story line. The story will seem a bit confusing at first since they have to set up the characters for the most part of the first issue. Below is a basic rundown.

I realize this is a long standing debate inside the comic, animation, and science fiction industry about how much back story is necessary to tell a good tale, but I think they made good use of this endevour by splitting the two main characters into their own parts of the book. As Lawrence admits it is "moving slowly, but it's moving. It appeals to a wide range of people: gays, cowboys, horror fans." Unfortunately if you are a grammar Nazi you will have a migraine with the first issue however the art is excellent, the future graphics I have seen look phenomenal and even with with traditional black and white sketch nature that the strip uses there are only a few detail and shading issues.

Marshall Starbuck

Starbuck towers at six feet one inch, his taught body is encased with sandy blonde hair and blue green eyes. We are introduced to him in the story as he is just finishing a three way with a mother and a daughter by lighting up a cock sized cigar, when his Deputy comes barging in with bad news. Not much is known about Starbuck. As a baby, Starbuck was found in an abandon gypsy covered wagon alone on the main trail 20 miles south of the town. The town adopted the baby. Starbuck suddenly stopped when he turned 20 years old. The town became quite fond of him and made him their Marshal.

When Starbuck was found the only thing with him was a book with the name Starbuck and had an unusual symbol written on 20 pages. It was a slow acting spell to protect the baby from harm and give him eternal life as an Awarewolf. Now as an Awarewolf Starbuck can change into an Awarewolf at will. He can even control how drastic the change will be. In our world, people Magic Users are looked at as drug users. Here in this world magic comes at a heigh price. It eats away at your soul and over time you can become a very dangerous person. Come see what keeps this from happening to Starbuck.

Jack Anthony Reaper

Kid Poison stands a mere five feet seven inches tall with black hair and brown eyes, at now age 18 he has lived an interesting life. At six years old his mother, a rich prostitute was hung for poisoning his entire class with cookies laced with rat poison. It was then discovered that Jack had a supernatural immunity to all poisons and in fact his body needed the poison in his system to survive. After the Mayor of Dead River Junction stripped Jack of his mothers inheritance and home he sold him to a Side Show passing through town. Ten years later, when the side show joined the circus, he met Patrick McClellan Angel, the only person who was not scared of Jack and the first to show him any kindness, their friendship developed from there. One year later the circus was burned to the ground by Patricks father, Patrick lost his life, Jack lost his best friend and his grasp on the world.

Jack became a mercenary. At 18 he was shot in the back by Marshall Bodin and taken back to town to the doctors office where he was left to die. Just as he was about to take his last breathe he was fed on by the Vampire Jessie James, this had an unexpected result as Jack already was a superhuman with an ability to absorb poison, his spiritual body became an Energy Vampire which then took possession of his best friends body in order to maintain corporal form. He can suck the life out of anyone, turn into the form of a fog cloud, and when he is angry turn the sky with red lightning. He still needs poison for his physical nourishment as well as energy, even though he can still tap an artery every now and again.

Patrick McClellan Angel

Knifes is a beautiful Irish lad, stands two inches taller and is one year older than Kid Poison, with auburn red hair and emerald green eyes borne in Gateway. At the age of 15 he immigrated to the United States from Ireland with his older brother Darren and his mother Kelsey to escape from their abusive, drunken father, Erin. Life in the United States was a lot more difficult. In order to make ends meet for her family, she decided to sell her body on the streets. The first man who came up to her was very handsome, tall and had a strong face. She blushed as he introduces himself as Christopher Angel. He knew she did not belong on the streets, so he invited her and her sons to join him in the Traveling Circus in witch he performed in. Very soon the two lovers found themselves married to each other.

She and her two sons took Christopher's last name and they became known as the Angel family. Now being part of the Angel Family also meant you were now part of the act as well. Patrick and Darren were trained by Christopher himself. Within a short amount of time, the boys were a part of the act. and part of the initiation was to get tattoos on their backs that matched their auburn/red hair. It was when the Circus teamed up with a Side Show, Patrick meet the Poison Kid and an unlikely friendship developed and it was quite an adventure. It was Jack who gave Patrick his nickname, Knifes. Patrick's brother was previously shot by a drunken cowboy. Patrick was about to quit the circus but Jack gave him a set of throwing knifes and a hidden talent was discovered.

Issue 3 has also begun pre production with the revelation that a portion of the artwork will be contributed by world renowned artist Joe Phillips (MySpace), who was also recently spotlighted on Gay Agenda, and whose work appears on F6 any chance I can get. UPDATE (16 JAN 09): BLOOD BORN PATHOGEN AND GAY ROMANTIC STORY LINES ORIGINALLY SLATED FOR THE LAST SEASONS OF ST:TNG FINALLY COVERED BY PHASE II PHENOMENALLY!

Bobby Rice, who played Bajoran Ro Nevin, from season six through the end of Hidden Frontiers to the first Episode of the new series The Odyssey, according to reports initially forwarded to me by Gay Tel Aviv as originally reported on by Andy @ Towle Road, Bobby is now reappearing/playing the role of Ensign Peter Kirk, Captain Kirk's nephew, in Star Trek: Phase II (formerly known as New Voyages), another fan made series. ST: Phase II, which continues where the Original Series ended, released the first part of their latest project "Blood and Fire" by David Gerrold's, as a special gift for the fans right before Christmas.



In this clip, Peter Kirk has joined the Enterprise A as a new crew member and while recovering from a bad burn during a recent attack has a romantic session with his partner Alex Freedman, played by Evan Fowler, in secret. They begin discussing, in between the smooching and groping, the elder Kirk's overextend protectiveness and how they are going to come out as a couple to his Uncle and then ask him to marry them on the Enterprise, as is the Captain's Privilege. I believe Admiral Picard once said it was a Captain's sole prerogative.

The horrific story finds a battle damaged Enterprise caught between an incurable contagion that threatens to overrun the galaxy, the pull of a dying star, and Klingons poised to attack. Like all of the best Star Trek episodes, Blood and Fire finds the Enterprise crew facing their own human fears and failings as they have to weigh the costs and decide how much personal risk to take in order to save the people around them.

This episode besides having main guest appearances by Bobby Rice (bottom) and Evan Fowler (top) as the same sex couple (in the pictures above and below), also sees the return of Denise Crosby (who played Lt. Tasha Yar on ST:TNG). Blood and Fire is also the culmination of many years of anticipation by fans and the original goal of Gene and Majel Roddenberry.

Right before his death Gene planned to cover HIV/AIDS, to pay tribute to the many legends and heroes of the Universe who lost their fight in the battle against such a horrible disease (William Ware Theiss, Mike Minor and Merritt Butrick); and and have a primary gay character story line in the last seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation for all those whom suffered with a long standing discrimination just even for being gay and a Trekkie let alone an actor on television.

The original episode for TNG, was shelved indefinitely specifically because of the simple mention of a gay crewman aboard the Enterprise, was originally written by David Gerrold, and is now the basis for the P2 episode Blood and Fire, which David produced and co wrote with Carlos Pedraza. It was also Gerrold's intention to challenge the apathy of the public regarding the small sacrifice, yet far reaching power, of blood donations. You can download the episode here.

Outing Brazil's military secrets

Despite the fact that their country plays host to the largest pride festival in the world, gay soldiers in Brazil face humiliating discrimination The imprisonment of a gay soldier in the Brazilian army has sparked a nationwide debate about sexuality and discrimination in the world's largest Catholic country.

Army sergeant Laci Marinho de Araújo, revealed that he was gay in an interview with a national news magazine, Epoca, which featured the story on its front page. He and his partner, sergeant Alcântara de Figueiredo, have maintained a serious relationship since 1997 and have lived together for most of that time. They spoke about the prejudices against gay people in the Brazilian armed forces and how they had been forced to conceal their relationship from official view.

Last week de Araújo was arrested after giving a television interview. Army police dramatically surrounded the TV station while the interview was in progress and Araújo pleaded with the TV show hostess for help saying that he believed his life was in danger. He said that since admitting to being gay he has suffered a number of personal attacks and has also had to seek medical treatment for depression.

The sergeant suffers from a variety of health problems, including multiple sclerosis, for which he is also receiving treatment. This has meant that he has been absent from his unit for some time and he was arrested for desertion when he left the TV studio. He was taken from Sao Paulo to the capital Brasilia, where he is now being held in military custody. His partner Figueiredo says that he has been denied access to him and fears that he has been beaten up and tortured.

The Brazilian military penal code defines the "practice of homosexual acts in places subject to military administration" a crime, punishable by up to a year's imprisonment. Although Araújo has been charged with desertion instead, a variety of Brazilian human rights and lesbian and gay groups accuse the army of persecuting him on the basis of his sexuality.

On Thursday the Sao Paulo state council of human rights said that it has proof that de Araújo was under medical care at the time of his supposed desertion. It is preparing to take a case to the supreme court declaring the parts of the military code which discriminate against homosexuality to be unconstitutional. It has also asked President Lula to intervene in support of its case.

On Tuesday Brazil's Attorney General, José Antônio Dias Toffoli, officially supported a move by the governor of Rio de Janeiro, Sérgio Cabral, to grant official recognition to civil unions between same-sex couples, which will give them the same rights to social benefits such as healthcare as heterosexual couples. This means that the action could set a precedent for the effective legalisation of same-sex civil unions throughout Brazil.

The two legal cases come in the same week as Brazil held its first national gay rights conference – a move hailed by President Lula as historic – and shortly after the Sao Paulo lesbian and gay pride festival, which is the largest in the world.
