White Trash Weekend: It's A Bitch! Sorting Out The Sordid Lives Of The Religious Self Righteous, Whom Keep Calling Us Sinners!

The American Family Association wasn't happy that everyone went out and bought Campbell's Soup Company products, over the holidays to thumb their nose at the Religious Right Political Machine; so they decided to go after Pepsi Cola Company's policies and practices, $500,000 donations a piece to PFLAG and the HRC, and regarding the company's new slogan "SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE", which matches their product redesign in recent months.

Pepsi Company also has workshops for its employees in diversity training which includes educating about sexual orientation and gender identity issues (Queers United). After this boycott was announced, the Pepsi Company decided to tell the AFA to bugger off and released in the United Kingdom, a truth or dare advert. In the advert a group of three friends are at a bar and the two challenged the one to go up and ask a person he was interested in for a number or a nookie. The friends were left slack jawed when he went right passed the woman they thought he was focusing on and into the arms of another tall dark and handsome man.

What a way to come out of the closet!

The SORDID LIVES theme song originally by Olivia Newton John starts out with very simple questions, "Who is to say whose a saint and whose a sinner?" Yet the answer that the original motion picture and current (12 episodes so far) series on LOGO, (the first season is an interweave prequel to the movie), validates, in part that everyone is. We all are both saints and sinners. Perfection, none of us could achieve. It is balance that is required.

When we realize that, we start to treat each other less precociously, and truly do become free and liberated. When one finds liberty to be who they are, is when we might find peace on this Earth or at least be able to live with one another without all the hate, drama, self doubt, and condemnation. When we all find that simple truth of unconditional love of ourselves, as made in Divine image, we will all be free to love, think, and worship as we choose.

But then the American Family Association and organizations like them wouldn't have anything to bitch about and misinform the public, or dig for something to harrass (dare I even suggest, slander/libel), another person and his husband and his children over. The head of the Florida Family Association decided to put out a press release earlier this month attacking through many misrepresentations the nature of the show SORDID LIVES, and then tried to get an email campaign going against the advertisers of the show. Then took he took it twenty steps to far and attacked the family of Jason Dottley and Del Shores, the Producer of the movie and new show series.

As an issue of fairness, I am putting excerpts of David Caton's Releases, with Jason's response betweeen.
New companies advertise on LOGO show portraying "Baptist Texas family" as genderly dysfunctional
TVGuide.com describes “Sordid Lives” as a “Comedy about dysfunction in a Republican Baptist Texas family, much of it gender-bending.” The program depicts various family members as transgender, lesbian, bi-sexual and gay.
“Sordid Lives” was written by Del Shores who won the 2001 GLAAD Media Awards Outstanding LA Theatre Production for the play "Southern Baptist Sissies."
Del Shores left his wife and two daughters and later married his partner Jason Dottley. This information is reported at Wikipedia.
Talk about hate and real dysfunction. The all gay LOGO channel, owned by ultra-liberal left MTV, paid a man who left a real family for other men to write a show attacking Christians. They are directly labeling Baptists and Christians as “Sordid.”
Additionally, any child with a remote can watch the explicitly homosexual programs that air on LOGO.

Bowflex is a leading advertiser on explicit show that degrades Christians. “Sordid Lives” star launches campaign against FFA, Bowflex continues to be a leading advertiser.
“Sordid Lives’” star Jason Dottley has launched a campaign against Florida Family Association (FFA) in response to FFA’s communications with companies who advertise on his television show.

Del Shores left his wife and two daughters for the homosexual lifestyle and later married his partner Jason Dottley.

Florida Family Association has sent emails to the CEO’s and VP’s of Marketing of the companies who advertise on Sordid Lives since it first aired in October of 2008. Additionally, FFA has launched several email campaigns to encourage supporters to send emails to companies who advertise on Sordid Lives.
FFA’s daily communications with advertisers and supporters’ emails to advertisers have influenced approximately 25 of 44 companies to stop advertising on Sordid Lives.
FFA typically reports the names of all advertisers who have pulled off of the shows monitored. However, these advertiser names will not be released at this time because the cast of Sordid Lives has launched a campaign against FFA and FFA’s efforts.

Sordid Lives star Jason Dottley posted a page on Utube.com calling on fans to send emails and make phone calls to FFA and the show’s advertisers. Del Shores (alleged) mother contacted FFA. Numerous fans called and sent emails. Del Shores (alleged) ex-wife called David Caton, Florida Family Association Executive Director on his cell phone on several occasions.

Del Shores’ (alleged) ex-wife’s numerous phone calls and this frenzy of opposition against FFA’s campaign to influence advertisers to pull off of Sordid Lives indicate that LOGO may be threatening to drop this show. If this is the case it is good news that LOGO Channel’s most degrading and hateful show toward the Christian faith could soon be gone.
With all the false trollop accusations coming from Florida Family in the name of "Christian" righteousness and "protecting the family", I found it interesting to note that: 1. Mr. Caton did not include the Wiki link in his second Release but didn't apologize for the blatant misinformation in either Release; and aside from the fact that U is not an acceptable shorthand for You Tube, 2. nowhere in any literature could I find a caveat from Mr. Caton that, made the simple suggestion for his constituents, to be parents, and block their children from watching any questionable programs on LOGO from their televisions. It is called a VCHIP. Now while Florida Family runs for cover and tries to claim to have been victorious at the same time, Kelley Alexander and Del Shores, released joint statements concerning the false attacks by David Caton of Sordid Lives The Series and harassment against their family, especially their daughters, and Jason :

DEL SHORES STATEMENT: I did not leave Kelley for Jason. I met Jason six years after Kelley and I divorced. There is no hate in our very REAL family which functions quite well, thank you very much. I did not abandon my daughters. Kelley and I are good friends and like many divorced couples we share custody and co-parent together. And my children are amazing young women! Finally, my show does not label Baptists and Christians as "Sordid". I have many Christian friends and fans -- straight and gay -- who practice what Christ preached -- love. But yes, I will continue to write about and expose those like Mr. Canton who continue to spew hatred in the name of the Lord.

KELLEY ALEXANDER: I cannot believe that I feel I have to to issue a statement regarding a hate-filled campaign by a man I do not know who is attacking my family. First of all, I have a REAL family that includes my ex-husband, Del Shores and his lovely husband, Jason Dottley. While my divorce should remain private, I have to defend Del. I encouraged him to embrace his homosexuality, live his life openly and honestly and to write about it. He has been the most supportive ex-husband, father and friend I could ever imagine. He never left or abandoned his wife or children. He has supported us financially and emotionally one hundred percent. But most importantly, he is the most wonderful father I could have ever asked for my children. They love him unconditionally and cannot understand the hate that is sometimes aimed at him. They are the most amazing children I could ever hope for, and Del is a total and complete partner in raising them.

I am sad that in the year 2009, that they are exposed to the hate that is aimed at their father, their step-father and the gay community. My heart is broken for each and every thought that goes against what we have created as an amazing family unit. Del and Jason are as much my family as anyone born into it. I adore both of them. Lastly, I would like to thank each and every sponsor of the show SORDID LIVES. You are all amazing and have a huge base of support. No more hate. Thank you, ~ Kelley Alexander

[SORDID LIVES] [AMERICAN FAMILY ASSOCIATION]

24 December 2008

The Religious Right Is Niether: Leave our friends and families and Campbells Soup Company alone!

Does the Religious Right have nothing better to do in the Spirit of the Christmas Season?

The American Family Association doesn't think so. In a recent press release they decried a two page advert spread in the December 2008 and January 2009 issues of the Advocate. Which by the way, The Advocate is no longer the nations largest "homosexual" magazines, just one of the oldest. This also bears a question: How many Religious Right organizations have subscriptions to GLBT Magazines?

The AFA in their press release bemoan the Campbells Soup Company stating that, "Campbell Soup Company has openly begun helping homosexual activists push their agenda. Not only did the ads cost Campbell's a chunk of money, but they also sent a message that homosexual parents constitute a family and are worthy of support. They also gave their approval to the entire homosexual agenda."

The adverts which promote the Swanson brands, which highlighted amongst the many recipes and other ideas for the holidays, gasp, is a featurette "of two lesbians with "their" son." Mr. Randy Sharp, Director of Special Projects, continues to ring his hands in an interview one ONE NEWS NOW saying, " And in one ad, which...clearly shows two lesbians who say they are married, who say they have a son together, ...the Campbell Soup Company is saying 'we approve of homosexual marriage.'"

Excuse me, Mr. Sharp, but your an moron, which is a legal term!

If you bother to read the article, she is also a chef, and the co-owner with Carolyn, of their own restaurant in New York, hence the dual application of the word "partner" in this case. When is the Religious Right going to realize that the word marriage doesn't exclusively belong to them, it is a legal term. Partner, which does not always mean married, but signifies business partners, is why civil unions legally wont work, they are not equal, and fore to with, the language does not match. Civil Unions would create disparity between one type of relationship and another, let alone confusion on the other levels of legal terms using the phrase "partner". The way this Action Alert and corresponding media reviews sound is that, according to the religious right, not only are Gays allowed to be Christians; but they cant even celebrate Christmas with their family and friends, or their children; let alone be in business together!

A SUMMARY OF THE ADVERTISEMENTS

The brief article with pictures (as you can see above left) discusses Chef Lea Forant, her partner Carolyn, and their young son Eli and includes a beautiful Butternut Squash Bisque recipe underneath. It also discusses the fact that, on Christmas Eve, they open up their restaurant for the Italian tradition of the Feast of the Seven Fishes.

Another part of the advert campaign highlights World renowned Personal Chef Wil Crutchley (pic to right) originally from North Carolina, who sixteen years ago decided to tie on an apron, instead of doing construction. Now he chooses to share with you his success, just like he does with his closest friends on New Years Eve, with this delectable, herb crusted, Rack of Lamb, roasted with a minted jus, for the savory side of singing Auld Axine and intimately sipping on a beautifully aged Brandy or Scotch, screw the champagne.

The other Chef spotlighted during this two page advert campaign is Executive Chef Christopher Lee with his pan sauteed Chicken with vegetables and herbs and a classic Roasted Turkey with pan gravy.

ARE YOU HUNGRY YET? Here is how to help out?

Well before you go scrounging around your deep freezer looking for leftovers from Thanksgiving or try the most dangerous thing, and attempt to sneak into the kitchen and steel a piece of pie or lick the batter out of the bowl, take a moment and stand up for equality show your support for Campbell's Soup Company. Please, over the course of the next two days especially, sit down and write via email: douglas_r_conant@cambellsoup.com or better yet, via the US Postal Service, and send your own personal letter or holiday greeting card to:

Mr. Douglas R. Conant, President,
Campbell Soup Company,
Campbell Place,
Camden, NJ 08103
Please communicate with him, that you (and if applicable, your family) are grateful that their company is willing to recognize the varied marketing capabilities and customer loyalty they have assured by just treating the GLBT Community, in all of its different facets, as an equal part of society with their advertising choices.

In an interview given by Anthony Sanzio, a Campbell Soup Company spokesperson, to OneNewsNow that the company reaches out to all segments of society. He stated that, "We support all types of families, regardless of how they're defined, for more than 100 years. We advertise in a variety of different media outlets that appeal to a broad spectrum of society. That's what we're doing here, and that's what we'll continue to do."

Unlike the AFA, I am not going to ask you to call their phone numbers (800-257-8443) and (800-442-7684) to show your support, but it is toll free.

I am however going to ask you to copy down the information or forward this blog post to your friends and parents, whoever supports you in your choice to be open about love and equal access under the law and sexual orientation, and ask them to also send Mr. Conant their own holiday greeting of equality and appreciation.

Lastly, make sure that the green bean casserole, in your family's celebration, is made with Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Soup this year! Happy Holigays Everyone.

AFA and Micah Clark at it again this time on your radio with kids

In a recent press release (copied below), made available to the local bloggers by Dan Turkette of Fort Wayne News, Micah Clark, President of the American Family Association of Indiana Political Action Coalition, has issued a hateful, misinformed, irrational, radio commercial and campaign. Their latest attack on liberty violates the innocence of a child, lambastes GLBTIQAS citizens, and strives to cow toe legislators into pushing this Marriage Amendment to the Constitution, known as SJR7, (which should never be heard by the General Assembly to begin with let alone passed) by the General Assembly, to a referendum by the people. This is bad law and "it don't get mo' simpler th'n that"! (*updated 11 February 08)

"Why shouldn't it be given to the people to decide?" You wonder. Because unlike the common convenient knowledge and presumption by the media, we don't live in a democracy but a democratic representative Republic. Part of the job of a representative government is to stop the idiots within either a majority or minority of the citizenry from having false force in what actually gets signed into law. We elect representatives to not just govern but to protect the individual citizen's Divine endowed rights as well as the collective citizens guarantee of those Divine endowed individual rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

The minute you reduce the individual rights of someone based on a social classification or association system you automatically deny their equality and nobility as a human being and relegate them to a status as a beast of burden. That, Mr. Clark, makes you no different than Lucifer to deny the Divine's love for, image in, and likeness portrayed by, all mankind. (ref: Sir Francis Bacon)

Furthermore, and my primary issue with the advertisement, by exploiting the innocence of a child in your commercial, asking him to present outlandish and unfounded questions, and focusing the listener to deny the power of love being more powerful than anything else, you should be ashamed of yourself and "tie the mill stone around your own neck (Gospel of St. Luke 17:1-4)".

Mr. Clark, keep your political religion out of my childrens' personal relationships with LORD Joshua-Emmanuel of Nazareth, aka "Jesus Christ".
By the way, just to answer your advertisement's second question, my four sons have three fathers and two mothers combined. You do the math Mr. Clark. That is five times the love and care, for each one of them!

Calling on Legislators to Protect Marriage in Indiana
by Micah Clark, President AFA of Indiana PAC

(Indianapolis) - The AFA of Indiana PAC has launched a groundbreaking radio ad campaign urging Hoosiers to contact their legislators in support of traditional marriage. The ad titled “Confused Children” features children questioning the implications of same-sex marriage in Indiana.

These powerful new 60-second spots are, have or will air on radio stations in the following cities across Indiana: Anderson, Booneville, Elkhart, Evansville, Franklin/Greenwood, Greenfield, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Michigan City, and South Bend. The ads are appearing on talk, country and Christian formats on both AM and FM bands.

The ads are designed to generate phone calls into the Indiana House urging legislators to pass the Marriage Protection Amendment (SJR 7), which recently passed the Senate for the fourth time with broad bi-partisan support. House Speaker Patrick Bauer and House Rules Committee Chairman Scott Pelath hold the fate of SJR 7 in their hands. If moved through the Rules Committee, the amendment would pass with strong bi-partisan support of the Indiana House.

“This ad is designed to urge people to contact their legislators about the importance of protecting our marriage laws. It is also designed to challenge those who mistakenly think that allowing two men to marry is no big deal. Because both mothers and fathers matter, the definition of marriage matters,” said Micah Clark, AFA of Indiana PAC President.

The Indiana House must pass SJR 7 this session, or the amendment dies, and the entire process must begin again leaving Indiana’s marriage laws unprotected until 2012. Twenty-seven states have already enacted Marriage Protection Amendments. Many of those without amendments have faced legal challenges from gay rights groups attempting to use the courts and activist judges to force state governments to embrace same-sex marriage. Next week homosexual activists are gathering at the Indiana capitol for a rally for same-sex marriage, the second such rally in less than four months.

Now that Mr. Clark has gotten his fifteen minutes, let me clarify what Indiana Equality is addressing at its annual rally at the State House. This years rally is entitled “Equality IS a Hoosier Value!” and will be held President's Day, Monday, 18th of February, 2008 from 1:00pm to 2:30pm @ The Indiana Statehouse, North Atrium.

It is more important than ever to help educate your legislators on its hidden dangers. While increasing numbers of representatives are becoming aware of growing problems with “marriage discrimination amendments” passed by other states, we need your help to let them know how they can make the best decision for Indiana .

It is also important to tell our legislators that we want bias crimes legislation to be enacted, and civil rights protections expanded. All Hoosiers deserve not to live in fear for their lives or in fear they might lose their job. Help us cast the widest net possible by ALERTING YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS to this important opportunity to make a difference and voice your concerns.
Show our legislators that words do matter! Help ensure that Indiana:

· prevents the passage of a DANGEROUS AMENDMENT that HURTS ALL HOOSIERS
· recognizes that HOOSIERS deserve to be PROTECTED from BIAS-BASED CRIMES
· expands its CIVIL RIGHTS PROTECTIONS to include ALL HOOSIERS

The Indiana Senate has once again passed SJR-7, and it now makes its way to the Indiana House of Representatives for consideration in the coming days. The Senate had all but decided to not give SJR-7 a hearing this year, but the so called "pro-family" organizations like Advance America, the Indiana Family Institute and the American Family Association of Indiana put extreme pressure on the Senate leadership, and they changed course.

Indiana Equality continues to work closely with leadership of the House of Representatives to make sure that this harmful bill does not see the light of day again this year. While we expect victory again this year, it's clear, as evidenced by the attempt to put marriage language into the proposed constitutional amendment on property taxes, that the proponents of the Marriage Discrimination Amendment will not stop their questionable tactics to keep this hurtful bill in play. Passage of SJR-7 by the Indiana House of Representatives will keep this harmful legislation in play and set the stage for a possible ballot initiative this year.

If approved by the electorate, SJR-7 will forever write discrimination into the Indiana Constitution, affecting thousands of Hoosier families.
Other ideas you can do to take action:

· Write the editor of your local newspaper to express your support/opposition
to legislation.
· Hand write a letter to your local elected officials letting them know about unfair legislation or practices.

· Talk to your friends, family and neighbors how unfair legislation affects all Hoosier families.

The AFA is at it again this time in your hotel room

In a post that I recently found on Sara Whitman's Suburban Lesbian Housewife she informs that the American Family Association is decrying a blatant action by several hotel chains in their 'offensive' removal of the Gideon's BIBLE from nightstands and end tables for what the AFA have labeled as "sex kits" in a recent Action Alert.

Now after glancing over the Newsweek article referred to by the AFA's Action Alert, as a staunch Catholic I am half tempted to say, "Oh, thank God, finally!" remembering the many times that I go through Wal*Mart or Dollar General and try to buy a Catholic version of the BIBLE and cant find one to save my ass. There are also the many times when I was staying at a hotel and not wanting to get dressed to go down stairs to my car to get my BIBLE for some light spiritual reading that I had to turn the Gideon's pages.

The only thing that pissed me off was when the person who dropped off the BIBLE left there own little other tract in there illustrating how "we are all sinners and going to hell" or taped something to the inside of the BIBLE in question that lead me to "invite JESUS in my heart" even though I am already baptized and He's been in there for thirty one years. At this pointe in our relationship He already took over the closets, He should have His own set of keys made.

Now as far as the flip side of the story the "sex kits" actually are called the intimacy or romance provisions at certain motels. Some even have concierges specifically for these entertainment scenarios and rate packages to match. In all due respect this action is well overdue in hotels because how many times has a single man been stuck on a business trip in a motel and not had a prophylactic to use with himself or his partner(s) of choice. With the new rise of old diseases that are becoming resistant to the original antibiotics used to fight them it is actually good business practice to insure the safety of your guests and provide that safety net for the heat of the moment action. Now of course I am not condoning mass promiscuity but an occasional in the moment intimate encounters with really good friends, that is another story all together.

The biggest issue when all is said and done is what Scripture has to say about spilling your seed in strange lands...or on any lads.... To which, I refer back to Sara's blog, for this excerpt from the Book of Samuel between David and Jonathan, that I have used in my own pastoral work and teaching. If this doesn't sound like a gay marriage arrangement I don't know what does:

"And it came to pass,
that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David,
and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.
And Jonathan said to David,
God be between me and thee,
and between my seed and thy seed for ever."

Kelty has repeatedly shoved my *Head 2 Brick Wall*

Unfortunately I am now left with no choice but abstain from voting in the Fort Wayne Mayoral Race because of certain incidents. These other incidents at initial light could be considered novice mistakes like a slip up on a form or a cake decoration being taken just a little to far in satire and offending everyone elses sensibilities. But the recent incident has no excuse for its self and it is not even the initial incident that I have issue with but the response or more important is the lack of response on the part of the Matt Kelty for Mayor Campaign.

He was informed of the advert at 21:10 the evening before the day he gave the interview to Pat White and the fact that he stated he was informed of it only that morning is a direct and bold face lie. It is poppy cock for him to say that he did not have the opportunity to here the advert throughout that day when I in fact told him where to go to listen to the advert. Plausible Deny Ability doesn't tread water on this one.

In regards to the radio advert by the AFA IN PAC against Gays and Tom Henry.
AFA IN PAC President, Micah Clark, had this to comment (s: Dan Turkette,)

As the person who wrote the ad, allow me to explain what the ad is about and why it is not negative, for those who do not understand the difference between an issue contrast ad and a negative ad.

I wrote the ad based upon specific ordinances Councilman Henry introduced and actual votes that he cast on others. It was not deceptive. It was not about about anything he has merely said, or speculation of what he may do as mayor, nor was it a personal attack on him. It concerns his record, whether or not that record is a negative or controversial matter is up to the voters to decide.

Unlike a negative ad, this issue ad is not a distortion of those votes. Again, the ad is not an attack, but a reminder to a specific audience who cares deeply about these issues.

I believe that is why the far left blogosphere is so upset. They can’t deny Mr. Henry’s record, and they know what groups are supporting him. (This info was posted on this blog weeks ago, and is fairly common knowledge.)

People who are upset with us for focusing on these votes claim it is negative to remind people who would strongly disagree with these legislative actions from any politician, of these specific actions, at a time when the media is focused on cake, a congressman and other sensational matters that one could argue matter less to a city office than the city ordinance issues raised in our ad.

Many voters (particularly parents and people of faith) are concerned about the culture of Fort Wayne. They wonder why Constitutionally allowed regulations of adult businesses designed to reduce the verifiable negative effects like crime and lowered property values, were never passed years ago by the FW city council, even though similar regs were adopted in South Bend, Mishawauka, Indianapolis, and dozens of other Hoosier cities.

It is our role to bring up those issues people care about during elections. That is largely why our PAC, (or anyone else’s) was formed. If the NRA has a PAC it is to bring up Second Amendment issues in an election and to educate their supporters of those issues and where candidates stand on firearms freedoms or restrictions.

By the way, for those on the lefty blogs who took issue with the sentence that as a parent, Matt Kelty understands the dangers of our sex-crazed world. As originally written, I used the term sex-saturated, but thought that the voice over might stumble on that, so I changed it to sex-crazed. Some person either without children or living in another reality, said in reporting about the ad, that they did not think we lived in a sex-crazed world.

There are currently an estimated 447,000 people on the sex-offender registry in the United States. There are 11,274 in Indiana. (Many pedophiles and rapists violate the law and do not register.) The porn industry in America, each year brings in more in revenue than ABC, NBC, CBS combined. In another example, it more money in the US is spent on porn than is spent on the Superbowl.

According to the CIA, each year in the United States over 50,000 people, mostly young girls and children are trafficked through the country as sex slaves.

I’d say we are a nation that has become sex-crazed and responsible parents know it and fear for the safety of their kids. (What parent in their right mind today, says to their child getting on a bicycle, what those of us over 30 routinely heard as kids . .. “Be back by dark” or “Be Back By Supper”? )

The ad is about issues aired in a forum of people who care about those specific issues. A good way to prove this fact, is to watch people who disagree with those issues, talk about the ad, smear it as negative, but shy away from quoting exactly what the ad really says for fear that people reading the ad might actually consider it and agree.

Lastly, in case someone wonders, this ad is from the American Family Association of Indiana PAC. The Kelty campaign knew nothing of, nor had anything to do with its content or any other factor regarding the ad, its placement, duration, etc. I have no idea what Mr. Kelty thinks of the ad, or if he’s even heard it on the Christian station. We ran the ad for our own reasons in accordance with our own purposes regarding family values issues and our many supporters who listen to that station and care about these topics.

Agree or disagree with us or our ad, we did nothing unusual, unethical, negative, cruel, untruthful or even uncommon to a significant political race of this size.

You can find a rendition of the interview Matt Kelty did with Pat White on WOWO's The Big Show this afternoon regarding the advert on American White Guy's Blog.

I am extremely disappointed in these statements in the advert and lack of action or response by the Matt Kelty Campaign and while I cant fault Matt personally I also can no longer endorse Matt without reservation due to the fact that those whom he has chosen as advisors in office will be as incompetent then as the ones he has now for the campaign. My prayers and thoughts, go out to Matt and his family. My heart wishes he would win because between the both of them he is down right the better choice but the likely hood of that happening is slim pickings of sour pickles.
