During my weekly perusals of the local blogs and commentary, I sometimes click on the comment makers to see if there is another interesting blog out in cyberspace that has a great political, local, or gay (sometimes all three) perspective. So while I was getting updated on Eric Fetcho's Fetchy's Bantering and Joe Taylor's Every Life Has A Soundtrack, I happened across a comment on Eric's by Chris Phillips of Greenwood, Indiana. So I got curious, don't know why, but I clicked on the profile. What do y'all know he had a blog, Pages That No One Will Read, sweetness! So I read, and found the following video submission for a GOOGLE "Innovate or Die Challenge", reported on by GIZMODO. The winning Aquaduct Team of Jason Lhi, Adam Mack, Brian Mason, Elanor Morgan, and Paul Silberschatz received $5000 dollars to split between them and their invention is fucking cool as fuck.
The City of Fort Wayne might want to consider investing in The Aquaduct, instead of taking over another utility company (teasing!), in the future. The Aquaduct is pedal powered vehicle that transports, filters, and stores water for the developing world. A peristaltic pump attached to the pedal crank draws water from a large tank, through a filter, to a smaller clean tank. The clean tank is removable and closed for contamination-free home storage and use. A clutch engages and disengages the drive belt from the pedal crank, enabling the rider to filter the water while traveling or while stationary.
